Lifesaving sport is an integral part of developing lifeguards and we encourage all to participate in team and individual surf sport training and competitions as it drives fitness, wellbeing and team spirit, as well as ensuring lifeguards are skilled, fit and fast.
At Waihi Beach Lifeguard Services Inc we have a Head Coach who offers lifesaving sport, beach & pool training for all ages and abilities. During the summer there are a range of sessions on offer and followed through into winter.
Head Coach run sessions are free to lifeguards who patrol the minimum 30 hours per season. Pool sessions require pool entry fee to be paid by the athlete. Competition fees and other costs are the responsibility of the athlete. The senior sports teams will work together to arrange transportation, accommodation and other logistics to help keep costs down.
