Waihī Beach Blast 26: A Week of Iconic Summer Events

Waihī Beach Blast 26 is bringing a week of classic summer fun to our coastline in the first week of January, with a line-up of events that generations of families have grown up with. Whether you’re here for the holidays or you call Waihī Beach home, there’s something for all ages and stages – take part, cheer from the sidelines, or come along and soak up the atmosphere.

These events are volunteer-run and all about community fun. If you’d like to help support our surf lifeguarding and rescue services, there are easy ways to contribute on the day.

What’s on

NY Sports Day – Thursday 1 January 2026, 11.00am (now in its 109th year, and as iconic as Waihī Beach summer gets, with Much Moore Ice Cream on hand to keep the vibe classic)

9km Robinson’s Entertainment Fun Run – Friday 2 January 2026, 10.00am

Orokawa Swim – Saturday 3 January 2026, 10.00am

Rugby Legends – Saturday 3 January 2026, 6.00pm

Sand Art Competition – Sunday 4 January 2026, 3.00pm
